Au revoir mon amour...

I'm finally done with the first of my sadness themed illustrations. I've had a lot of fun with this one! It's not due until next Monday but I figure I'll post it and see what kind of feedback I can get before then. Comments welcome!

Dude. You are seriously amazing. I think the plant in the corner is a little too distracting for not being important for the story. Nice colors. I like the price tags a lot.

Thanks man! Yeah something about the plant still bugs me. Everyone in class seemed to think it looked weird without it though. Maybe I just need to re-design the shape of it.

Well it still makes me want to cry my poor little eyes out....but it looks super amazing! Good job Steve-O!!

I love this one. I love the colors. It's almost soo vivid that I have just enough to look at, not to distracted by any ONE thing. Excellent work. ~Tom Doss

One technical flaw...female bettas have short fins...unless that purple betta is suppose to be a male?

Stephen Sitton said...

Yeah, I know that female betas are less colorful and more short-finned than their male counterparts. However I felt that to better communicate her "elegance" I elongated her fins and made her more graceful. I feel that she is "feminine" enough to pull it off.

Nice. I like the glare you added to the fish bowls.

Hey Mister Steve... :)
You have yet to give me credit for the tags. You know you couldn't have gotten that amazing print on there without your lovely ME!!! I really like this one but it still makes me want to cry. Its so sad. I LOVE IT!!!

Alright, alright! Just so everyone knows, my loverly wife Michelle helped me with this illustration by writing out the lettering that appears on the tags. See, I wanted it to look like it was "hand-written" but my handwriting is awful. So, I asked Michelle to write it out for me. She is my ever-faithful sidekick especially when I need photo reference.

I'm jeaslous you got the artistic genes.

Stephen Sitton said...

McKenna,
There might be a few genes in there. But technically you have the same genes I do. It's what you do with them that will make a difference. Don't be jealous of my genes, instead be jealous of the fact that I work my brains out on my artwork. If you want to get good at anything that's what you have to do.
