Comet Chaser (sketch)

This is a sketch for an illustration I'm working on to look as if it could be a real book cover. I've included a version that has type on it to show what I'm talking about. As far as I know there isn't any book with that title/theme. I've wanted to do something steampunk for a long time. I'm way excited about the idea! I also get to do some interior spot illustrations along with it. Comments welcome!

First of all, your character look almost just like the character from Jak and Daxter. I like the composition, but the type is not working. I know it's probably just there to design around, but keep in mind that it doesn't really fit the style or subject of the painting. Can't wait to see it finished!

I still say it needs big exposed propellers!

also, for steampunk I'd make it a little less futuristic/space looking and a little more exposed gears/crankshafts/and rust

remember leather, brass, and iron
